"Time to Say I Love You"
My family immigrated to the United States when I was one year old. We are the typical Chinese family that is not very demonstrative about love. My parents' love came in forms of nagging and lecturing. I know now my parents love me deeply, but growing up watching shows like “Leave It to Beaver” and “The Brady Bunch” I deeply desired the hugs and encouraging words. Needless to say, I never said I love you or hugged my parents. One day, I was told my father had cancer and that night I could not sleep knowing I never said I love you to him. I got up and wrote this song for him. I sang the song to him in a concert before he went into surgery the next day. My father is fine now and in remission.

"Hold On"
Two of our college students in our church had died in a car accident one night. I personally did not know them very well, but I was very close to the people who knew them. It tore my heart to see their pain as they grieved for their friends. As a bystander, rather than a person in the midst of the injustice of seeing two vibrant young lives taken so suddenly, I thought my friends who are Christians only had one thing to hang on. I wrote this song to those whose world has been turned upside down and is spinning out of control to hold on to a true anchor, Jesus Christ.

"Child of the King"
I was faced with true discouragement for the first time in my life. I thought discouragement was easy to conquer by picking yourself up, dusting yourself off, and continuing on. I found true discouragement to be disabling and had much difficulty carrying on. I did not even know why I was in such a state until a friend confronted me and made me confront what was happening in my life. The next day, my devotions dealt with how Satan wants to hit us in our relationship with our Lord and our self-esteem. I realized that I am a child of the King and Satan cannot defeat me.

"Love Me"
Of all the provisions God has for me, the most precious is He loves me for who I am.
